Though the Platinum card is a charge card, they have the extended payment option on things. I have never needed those checks, so I don't even know if you can get them for their charge cards. I know you can for their credit cards.
One cannot accrue MR points through the use of cash advances, convenience checks, or balance transfers (per Amex from a while back). My Chase and B of A CC are the same way.
