The Thai Birthday 'goodie' used to be a free 'upgrade' (over and above the Gold Upgrade), but was changed in 2005 to a 50% mileage award.

It is an undocumented benefit, so THAI has no obligation to continue to provide it - but such a move would certainly devalue the attractiveness of ROP to me.

Let's wait and see ...
