I want to book an award ticket using the 50% miles in the month prior to my birthday. As it's September, I thought I'd just check with TG to see if it was too early to book yet... but instead I had a response that causes some concern:
First, they replied:

Gold birthday gift package for next year might be different from
what we give this year. Hence, we would ask that you wait for
your new Gold birthday package to reach your end prior to
requesting this award.
Regrettably, requesting a birthday award this month for your
travel in MAR 2008 is not permitted.
Our system shows that your account accrues over 50,000 miles
in only the year 2007. Hence, you are eligible to receive one
additional Gold complimentary round-trip upgrade on THAI
operated flights. This privilege is yours for up to 30 NOV 2008.
Kindly contact your local THAI office for the upgrade flight
reservation and ticket upgrade validation accordingly.
I don't mind that she misunderstood I wanted to travel in Feb. I'll just go do it in person in Bangkok. This was more of an enquiry anyway. But I was intrigued by

So I wrote back:
As you know, it's peak season in Thailand in February. This is why I wanted to book earlier. Please advise what is the earliest date I will be able to book an awards ticket for a flight on Feb 2.
Also, could you please advise what the change is to the birthday awards?
Does this mean that the 50% awards will be stopped? I believe this will be very detrimental to Thai Airways ROP image.

Regrading to check the availibility of Air Award seats , kindly
contact to TG office at your local area .
For the next year 2008 birthday award promotion still no have
any information now. Whenever ,we have an information of
this issue so we will inform you by News Letter later on.
