I'd get out of your row 38 seats ASAP for the moment. Then try to check in early and get the exit row.

Emirates won't allow pre-booking of exit row seats. They have to see that you are physically able, and get it authorised by a supervisor. I'm normally there 4 hours before the flight if I'm on the MAN-DXB in Y
