The counter person may have then done some research and found something about an NWA day pass after the person protested, or may have decided to just shoo them away rather than have a confrontation. That's not the right way to do it, but that is one option.
There are two separate issues.
1. Having a same day BP or ticket for a skyteam operated flight and it's interpretation.
2. No guests allowed period.
The guest restriction might have been a new restriction, but I cannot say for sure. On our last 6 or so trips to/from CDG
1. we were all PE's with WC annual primary membership plus annual spouse membership, or
2. 1, plus we were travelling in Business class or
3. 1 PE, 3 GE, 1 peimary WC annual membership and one spouse annual membership (in 2003) and the check in agent issued us invitation for 4 without asking.
