United Express Baggage Snafu

So I would like people's advice. I've been flying United for the past couple of years and am currently 1K. During the past year United has lost my checked baggage about 5 times. I can live with this, it is a risk of checking baggage. I have never asked for compensation and they normally deliver the bag later in the day.

However, today I ran into a new problem. I did not check my baggage but rather did carry-on. My first flight was a United Express flight into ORD. As it was a CRJ 200 they plane-side checked my bag with a green ticket and were supposed to give it back when we reach O'Hare and I could carry-it on to the next flight.

Well, they ground crew did not put anybody's plane-side checked bags on the plane (about 10 passengers) and now United is unable to locate the bag. This is a huge issue for me. I have meetings in DC today and tomorrow and currently am in shorts and a polo shirt. Thus I get to purchase new shoes and a suit for tomorrow morning before my mtg. I know United will cover some of the costs.

My question is should I leave it at this or request additional compensation of some form. This wasn't simply due to a short connection due to delays but rather gross incompetence by the ground crew. Normally, I'm willing to let things pass but this has really upset me as I didn't check my bag for this reason.
