I'd agree that the lumped taxes and fees may look different but add up the same as a fare with fuel surcharge included.

Aside from the 2k CMOL booking bonus, you might want to look at your fare class for the trip. CM is very tight about using the discount and super discount fare buckets...a quick check shows my flights were booked as a V fare, meaning I would have got 100% EQM/EQS. I never have seen ISTLO (50% if not through CMOL) fares available.
