Gatwick upgrade: Problem with online u/g, done over phone but must pay at airport?
Just had to do a Gatwick upgrade over the phone as BA.com was continually refusing: 'unable to process online, please phone the upgrade line 0870'
The guy I spoke to on the phone refused to take payment for the upgrade - saying I had to pay at the airport.
Having looked online in Manage-My-Booking (and also Amadeus checkmytrip) the booking DOES appear to have been upgraded.
But I was then told I'd need to pay at the airport - I asked if I could still OLCI and was told no.
He said he'd put a note on file saying this was done over the phone because BA.com wasn't working so I 'shouldn't' have to pay any fee.
Does this all look right/safe?
Amazed I couldn't pay over the phone when calling an 'upgrade line' (20 minutes on 0870).
If I tried phoning again would I be able to pay over the phone?
His attitude was that I should be doing this online, and they were doing a favour because BA.com wasn't working.... .... but that didn't extend to taking payment.
