Ian - you have mail in response to your to me.
I will state here that this is actually the very antithesis of any form of trinint that this Purser will ever have received. I will mention this,
1) The BPS - all are meant to be checked by the crew on baording. no exceptions. This is not the USA where some carriers position a crew member at the gate, we welcome aboard. You are meeting and greeting!
2) The bar trolley incident means that the trolley did not have the brakes applied when it was stoed and sounds as thought the latch was not applied either. On a short hop to MXP it is possible that it was in use until the last minute.
3) The School incident is peculiar and I am being a bit cagey on that one as it sounds as though there were more of them than you may have known. It is possible that there were others down the back who had played up. They were behind you as you state and it is entirely possible that they had been odious out of your hearing. The reaction is rather extreme I have to say. In any event how extraordinary that they were going to MXP just so close to School going back. The Private sector do usually go back later, but my neice who is at Harberdashers Asker starts back tomorrow as they get 2 weeks at half term. Still for the crew to have immediately to have assumed that the kids would steal the stock rather than worry about whether anyone had been hurt by the incident is incredible. I wonder if the whole ET cabin was made up with these people. The staff load may have been large for the inbound sector that night - I would think that 6 is the max crew that the A319 would carry. 7 is the max for the A321 with a high Club load.
Even then, the situation was redeemable by being solicitous to all concerned. I suspect that she may have thought that the kids had actually taken the brakes off them. I really do wonder what had gone on back there without your knowledge.
I do know that the CSD role is to change utterly on Short Haul. They are creating this new role of CSD-X as they call it as they have not got a new title. This is both flying and check riding cabin crew (they could do worse than start on this lot). The other options are to go to Long Haul, or take severance. This is due next April. As lots of you have noticed the CSD role on Short Haul is not what it used to be. It will upset lots of people who do not want to go to Long Haul - it does not suit everyone's living arrangements.
That is all by-the-by, this is a shocking example of how the wrong person "leading" the crew just does nothing more than poison them.

Not half as much as I do!
