I actually think the departure times from AMS are quite good:

The morning departure time is perfect for the interconts arriving in the early morning at AMS, say the KUL flight which connects to Australian flights. It would remove one of the major hassles of LKP, either sitting around waiting in CPH/ARN or arriving late in the evening.

The late evening departure time would allow for a one-stop connect at AMS for most european cities and still a full fay's work.
