You are probably already there by now, but in case you are not or are there and connect on here....
Here's the ¨best of's¨ from my favourite city and former home:
*LL PUB
This is a small pub but its where many gather between midnight and 3 am (usually after getting a few after dinner drinks, and before going to the later night discos). It has the best drag show in Spain in the upstairs portion with very lively music (not big enough to dance though, although many still do). The downstairs bar has a dark room where you can do whatever you want. And I do mean whatever you want.
*STUDIO 54
This place is new and totally off the hook. Probably the chicest new hot spot in Chueca. Very New York meets SoBe with a European kick ofcourse. A bit pricier than most Chueca bars.
*WHY NOT?
This is an underground pub that plays lively music and also gets very very packed.
*BLACK AND WHITE
Go there just to say you've been there. It's mostly a place for working boys and men who hire them. The guys standing to the back tend to be for hire, whereas the ¨customers¨ are generally the older men sitting at the bar. Friday and saturday nights their downstairs dance floor can be lots of fun though, after 3 AM.
*BOITE
This dance club gets packed at 3 AM and its the best place to be till the early hours, 6 AM plus
*DELIRIO
TINY underground dance club. Not for claustrophobics. Plays very good music though. Go there once or twice, after 3 AM.
*COOL
The most popular dance club. Usually charges high cover. Known to be the place where the best looking guys in Madrid go to.
*STRONG CENTER
This is basically a sex club. Many americans flip out when they see this. But they also have a bar and dance floor. (Though both of these are secondary features LOL) They are known to have the biggest dark room in Europe.
*RICK'S
This is a bar for primarily older clientele, but can still be fun.
FYI, if you are looking for a good place to go after dinner for your first round of drinks, locals head to NIKE in Chueca, right in front of the Plaza on Augusto Figueroa. You can get the largest sized, most liberally poured drinks there. Ask for Janet, she will take EXCELLENT care of you if you go.
Well, I think I have listed pretty much everything worthwhile, then again, it also depends what your scene is but most of these places, like Madrid in general, are a melting pot and dont really clasify as just one scene, so you should be ok nonetheless. I'm jealous, have fun.
