One way awards are really not a factor for me. I've never had the need to use one and as a result would not choose a mileage program for that reason (it's a nice benefit though for sure).

As mentioned above, one of the benefits of one-way awards is that even if you want a round trip, you can book as two one-ways and can gain the ability to have a stopover in each direction (although no stopovers allowed within Europe). It allows you to piece together a pseudo-rtw w/ two one-ways.
