Plus, bmi allows one-way redemptions at 50% cost, which makes life so easy in booking flights when awards available and two stopovers on a single roundtrip.
Unfortunately no ability for me to earn bmi miles on a USA-based credit card is a real deal-breaker for me. I looked at how many miles I've earned on my UA Visa over the years and it's far too significant for me to give up. I can transfer starpoints 1:1 to LH on the SPG AMEX card (actually better than 1:1 as you receive 25k miles for every 20,000 starpoints you transfer over.

Those cash and miles options though are fabulous. One way awards are really not a factor for me. I've never had the need to use one and as a result would not choose a mileage program for that reason (it's a nice benefit though for sure).
