I am one of the (very)

few who doesn't have a problem with employees in first. I trust the system works correctly "most" of the time, and that we the highly valued FF get our upgrades as the rules state.
With that said, I thought I'd share a bit of interesting info I learned from a friend who works in the pricing/revenue area for Delta. Apparently there are now over 400 non-revs who have been stuck in Paris for the last week who can't make it home! An apparent result of Air France grounding the Concord. I'd have to think it's probably the same on UAL.
I bring this up only to highlight one of the huge downsides and risk of non-rev/employee class travel.
I'll also ad that a small group of us will be non-reving it to FRA next week...Have there been any non-rev trip reports before? If not, I'll keep a journal and report on the trip as a non-rev.
