Couldn't you purchase 5,000 points on her account? This would bump her up to platinum and you can use the 5,0000 points to get another room.
Or am I missing something?
Sorry, I should have been clearer - obvioulsy she doesn't need status to book the pointbreak.
She was concerned that buying then redeeming straight away, while it would take her above 60k, she wouldn't have been there long enough for the system to spot it and a new card be issued etc.
I've said I reckon the need for a new card will be triggered the moment she reached 60k and that her online status certainly will changed to Plat even if she only pops above 60k briefly.
That was the extent of question 3.
HOWEVER her main question was whether it works on the ammount earnt in the year (regardless of any redemptions already having taken place), or if the years point balence needs to actually be 60k+ 'in cash' for plat to be triggered.
She'd rather not pay a penny extra, but would buy points if it meant she'd otherwise go from needing 4,500 to needing 9,500 for plat.
