A few weeks ago I purchased a coffee card at one of my favorite coffee places. I was pretty sure I had about $10 left on it.

When I returned from my most recent trip which involved 9 flight segments, the clerk told me it had a value of $0 on it.

I may have had the card in checked luggage at some point, but I'm not sure.

Is there anything that could have happened on the trip that would cause a coffee card to lose value?
