I can basically choose my flights for my trip to tokyo... I will be able to book a business class seat regardless of how I go, I will also be trying to upgrade that seat to first... however - and this is my dilema - I can book this trip to run alomst entirely on a 747-400 or a 757/777 combo. The 747-400 would run RIC-ORD-NRT - the 757/777 would be either RIC-ORD-SFO-NRT or RIC-ORD-SEA-NRT. I'm trying to avoid IAD as it is an ANA codeshare, and I need the miles for Prem and possibly PREM EX.

So what's more comfortable the 747-400 or the 757/777 - and the other kicker, which has the better chance of upgrade? thanks
