I still live in Richmond, but away from the primary landing/take-off paths other than for some of the smaller aircraft, which are barely noticeable. However, I did used to live right under the track (about 3 miles east) for the south runway and my in-laws still live right on that line (about 2 miles east). Yes, that was rather noisy and still generates lots of complaints. Those further north, inline with the newer north runway, have generated the most complaints in the last few years but they really should have known what was coming.
As far as the South Surrey/White Rock complaints. Those people are 10 miles or more out as the crow-flies, surely the aircraft are at much higher altitudes there then they are on final approach? This can't be much different than north Delta and northwest Surrey, which are one of the normal approaches from the east? Or from that over the North Shore when the loop around from that side?
