New Years Eve in B.A. and Ferry Service to Montevideo
Hi All,
My GF and I will be in B.A. for the week after Christmas (Dec. 27-Jan. 1), staying at the Park Tower. This is my third trip to B.A. and her first. We want to take an overnight trip out of B.A.
My thought was Montevideo and Colonia, both places to which I have been and enjoyed, but that are new to her. My plan as it stand now is to take an early morning ferry to Montevideo on Dec. 29 (looks like there is one leaving at 8 AM, which should arrive around 11 AM) and then take an early evening ferry back to B.A. from Colonia on Dec. 30. I'd probably arrange for a hotel car to take us and our bags to Colonia the morning of Dec. 30 (I did Colonia as a day trip from Montevideo and the hotel car worked well and wasn't too expensive).
A few questions:
1. From what I cna tell from the Barquebus website, there are three classes on the ferry to Montevideo (Tourist, Special and First). Special is the most expensive, but all are within $100 of each other. What is the difference between them? What do you get in First and Special that you don't get in Tourist?
2. Are they likely to fill-up such that I should book now, or can I wait to book it when I get there? In the alternative, I can have the hotel book it for me now if that would lower the price.
We will be in B.A. for New Year's Eve. What is B.A. like that night? Any reccomendations? Things to avoid?
Thanks!
