In Y, the A340 is light-years ahead of the B747 in terms of comfort, largely owing to the 2-4-2 seat configuration of the Airbus vs. 3-4-3 in the Boeing. It seems roomier, and the fact that you have a far lower chance of ending up in a middle seat make the A340 far more attractive if you're flying Y. That's not to say that other factors may not tip the balance in favour of the B747, but all things being equal, for me, the A340 (or A330, which has the same configuration) wins every time.
In fact, I would even pay up to 50€ more not to have to suffer the B747. And I am currently giving serious thought to flying FRA-ZRH-BKK-SIN on LX rather than FRA-SIN on LH so that I can avoid the B747 on that route and get an A340 instead.
In C and F, it's a totally different ballgame, of course.
