As far as comparisons go while it hasn't been a mortgage, I often have been sent a new "booklet" by my CC company noting revisions to the user agreement. Should I throw the booklet in the trash only to later claim I didn't know about changes to the way my account is handled, can I still plead ignorance for not having bothered to read the fine print I was given? No, sorry but wilful ignorance is not a good enough defence for me.
The difference is you can simply change credit cards if you don't like the new rules and you lose nothing, but if you change frequent flyer programs you orphan at least a portion of your hard-earned miles.
