Firstly, hiring pilots right out of flight school is not a problem for me because I know how difficult the course is to pass in the first place.

My understanding is that only 40% of those who actually apply, and are accepted, ever graduate. The course (in any community college) is very, very demanding! I would be very comfortable sitting in the back knowing a 22 year old is at the helm. This, despite, ACPA's alarmist statements that neophites should not be hired because of the 'emergency experience' factor. To that end, the fact is that neither Jazz nor AC would ever allow anyone in the cockpit without them being fully tested in all emergency and other operational imperatives. Just alamists B.S. if you ask me!

The other thing to metion here is that it's ACPA who has set the Canadian standard on retirement rules under their collective agreement and it's nothing more than whining at this point to complain about Jazz's decision to recruit newbees in the face of that policy. I don't mean to suggest that Jazz is not without criticism here, after all, they are responsible for the appauling wage rates paid to their pilots; but I do saythat that the JAZZ union get off their fat ... (donut's included) and exploit their bargaining position to get better if that's the problem.

All in all, I have no problem with a kid at the helm if they're trained properly (which they are).

In some ways, I would rather have a young pilot who want to be in the chair because they have the passion for the role rather than a disgruntled senior who feels underpaid, overworked and under-appreciated!
