First couple of years the pay is pretty low, but it seems that other factors come into play in terms of many pilots either not wanting to go to Jazz or moving on when they get a chance, such as AC not picking up very many Jazz pilots in their new hiring (very small percentage). Apparently Westjet is scooping up a huge number of Jazz pilots. I am guessing that one reason to get low time pilots into the system is that they won't have the 3000 hours plus that makes them attractive to other carriers once they have 6-12 months of scheduled jet service under their belt.

I believe that LH has a training program that takes a student pilot from zero time right through to the line, so maybe AC is experimenting with that sort of model.
