I was on this flight as well, however I don't remember the Pilot saying
that all of the connecting flights would be held.

I do remember the FA announcing that the pilots of the connecting aircraft have been advised of the delayed connecting passengers, and I also seem to remember him saying that the decision to wait was at the discretion of the individual pilot and that there would be no gaurantee that the aircraft would wait.
