I can't believe this thread has made it this far without someone complaining about how horrible cabs are in Boston!

1. Is there any way to tell if a Boston cabbie is looking for a fare or not? They never use the light.

2. Boston has ridiculous laws regarding cabs--if a cab is stationed in Cambridge, they aren't allowed to pick up fares in Boston. This means that if you're in Boston, and an empty Cambridge cab drives by, the cabbie isn't allowed to pick you up.

3. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've had to give my cab driver directions--even to places like Copley or the Airport.
