Having largely avoided BA over the last 12 months, since the initiation of liquids paranoia, and having requalified to Gold with the help of Iberia, I finally decided to take the plunge again with a GVA-LHR-JFK-LHR-GVA, booked in CW and with one leg (JFK-LHR) auto-upgraded to F (part of a promo, book CW, get one leg in F).
Well, I think I am reconciled again. The legs operated largely on time, LHR connexions were OK, no bags lost (well I didn't give them any to lose).
First leg, GVA-LHR, pushed back about 10 minutes after schedule because of ATC, but landed on-time with no loops.
The most amazing thing was the Flight Connexions at T4. I walked in and couldn't believe my eyes. I have never seen anything like it. There were no (=0) passengers there, whether in Fast-Track or Slow-Track. Just the security staff, who were pleasant and friendly (well they clearly weren't stressed were they).
LHR-JFR was in 62A. Pleasant experience though I also had problem with seat jumping up. AVOD was fragile. Most of the time it managed to recover, but once I had to restart the video and fast-forward. Arrived in JFK on time, but the long taxi made us about 20 minutes late at the gate. In immigration only our plane present. Took me about 5 minutes. My immigration officer saw my Colombian stamps and started talking about his holidays there. Embarassing seeing the line behind me.
Return journey was excellent, including the outstanding Concorde Room at JFK. Lounge dragon looked at my BP and suggested I take an earlier flight, which I accepted. I was booked into 2K. Excellent meal in the CCR. Flight pushed back about 5 minutes early, but we only took off 90 minutes later. Arrived in LHR 30 minutes late only.
About 5-10 minutes of wait for T4 security this time (Fast-track). Pleasant time in Gate 10 First lounge, including large MB shower stall (mentioned somewhere else on FT).
Last leg, LHR-GVA was about 20 minutes late - no reason give. Plane completely full so FAs a little stressed.
