As others have said, the chance of the SNA-SFO flight being late are indeed great and will get greater as Fall - and fog - arrive in the Bay Area, which is far more problematic for an AE flight.

However, if the SNA flight does arrive on time, the SFO terminal is quite small and there would be no problem getting from you arrival to your departure gate.
