If one is originating in th Americas, do all flights to Africa get routed through London, via the United States? Do 'affordable" Central America-Brazil/Argentina-East Africa routes exist? Finally, is there a map on the internet where one can visualize the global hub system as it relates to the African continent?
The South America hubs are effectively Rio/Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago. The African hubs are effectively Lagos, Nairobi, Joburg and Cairo. If you want to avoid Europe, try the South African flight Sao Paulo to Joburg.
