Ordered champagne in Club...then carded
My question is in regards to BA's carding policy (which until now I didn't know existed). I'm 20 years of age, and I didn't think ordering a drink on BA was a big deal. However, on my recent DXB-LHR flight I politely asked for champagne in Club World. The FA responded with a quick "how old are you?" I then said twenty, to which she wanted to see my passport birthdate. I then proceeded to show her my passport and State of Illinois drivers license. She quickly apologized, but said it was a matter of "BA policy".
Does BA have a set carding policy? If so, why haven't I been carded on flights ex America? Is it just up to individual enforcement/discretion? Some of my friends have noted that on LH they inquire occasionally.
