Certainly B and H used to be different (i.e. no restriction on changing in the last 24 hours) - but now the only thing different is that they earn tier points. I changed an H fare online recently and got charged £30 plus the difference up to the J fare.
The whole thing is a can of worms and the rules keep changing...

With the exception of J1FL, only the CLC1 fares are changeable on the day of departure - even the BNCDOM1 is not. I think the CLC1s are just the LCY flights.
I'm sure this keeps changing because you used to be able to buy a £30 change fee ticket by just a paying a bit more....(not that you could do it on BA.COM you had to use an agent)
Question is, can you get round this if you *really* want to be flexible on your return trip by just booking an el cheapo fare way in the future and changing it to the flight you actually want on the day (and at the time) of departure hopig of course that a fare bucket lower than Y is available and paying the £30 fee?
