Diffuser, you need a guidebook. Seriously. They're only about $25 in any major bookstore, and they'll tell you all about what to see in Kyoto. Only YOU can decide what is interesting to you.
Just for instance, if you had a guidebook, you'd know that Osaka and Mount Hiei are in opposite directions from Kyoto. Mount Hiei is in the northeastern suburbs of Kyoto and reachable by city bus. Osaka is a whole other city, and not a very interesting one for a first-time visitor.
