Must you take a bus? You can take a SEPTA train from 30th St Station in Philly to Trenton. Then buy a NJ Transit train ticket right there to Penn Station in NYC. You board the train at the same station; it couldn't be easier. I prefer the train to the bus and at Penn Station, you'll be sandwiched between the 7th Ave and 8th Ave subway lines.
