Aeroplan has no equivalent to the household account, so you can't do those kinds of free transfers within a family, alhtough I believe that is an option they may be exploring.

To keep the accounts alive, you need at least one transaction in every 12 month period. Here, you can do that by using an affinity Credit Card or by buying petrol at an Esso station. It's more difficult if you live elsewhere. One possibility is to buy some Aeroplan points. I don't know what other options there are.
