With all due respect, this advice has been given here on FT for longer than you or I have been around here. And I really don't see what harm there is in stating it publicly, because a) it's not exactly a closely-guarded state secret that seats become open as people move from Y to F, and b) the ability for the so-called "unwashed masses" to get better seats at 72 hours still doesn't allow a non-status flyer to get an exit row seat any sooner than at the airport.
