I would agree trip advisor has its place, and I routinely look at it. I much prefer Conde Naste or Mobil's reviews for luxury properties that have quantitative measures for quality. However, TA is good at spotting trends of spotty service, or definite no no properties. When I have no idea where to stay in Eagan, MN or Spotslvannia TA does right by me. That being said the general view of luxury is probaby a 4 star not a 5 star experience. Most consumers know little about 5 diamond or 5 star criteria or spend more than 1 night in their life in a luxury property. So to the masses I praise TA, but each site and tool has their place. This forum is where I go to see the lowdown on truly luxurious properties by any standard.
