Miles, as well as the fact IAD is a lot further for us than DCA (say about 2.5 times further). I could do IAD one way but doing it both ways will have my wife and kids a couple of hundred miles short of Platt. Mixinf IAD and DCA doesn't work and IAD-DTW is not ideal either as you get stuck on a CRJ.

Did NW ever do AMS-IAD? KLM has been doing AMS-IAD as far back as I can remember. There was a time when KLM did BWI-AMS too, which I took a few times.
