I would definitely not want to spend even a minute on the ground at MFE (or IAH, for that matter) between April-October without A/C. That's just brutal.
So that's your answer to the posters question?
"should the air conditioning being broken be grounds to declare a mechanical or should the planes fly anyway?"
I HATE hot aircraft but I think for a short flight, I'd rather get where I was going.
