I recently re-visited the Marriott Resort in Oak Brook, which has undergone some renovations. I was quite pleased.
Pros: This property is vastly superior to the Lincolnshire Resort. Better gym, bigger and better pool (indoor + outdoor), fantastic service, equivalent golf course, equivalent game room, better maintained, better lobby/lounge, more attractive (especially since the renovations). When I was there, they had 3 weddings going on simultaneously without so much as a tiny decline in service, and the wedding guests all appeared to be very happy--quite unlike similar Marriotts under similar circumstances (I'm looking at you, Ypsilanti). Got upgraded to a golf view room, despite dirt-cheap rate and lowly silver status.
Cons: The only thing missing is the theatre, but that's nitpicking, and there is at least one other equivalent theatre in the area. It's not a particularly touristy area, but neither is Lincolnshire. It's not remotely the "resort" equivalent to Marriott's warm-weather properties that have huge spas, etc., but it's pretty darn nice.
