Well, between AC membership, Amex Platinum cards, and flying paid business on longhaul flights anyway, that benefit is meaningless to many people. And not available to Golds at all. But besides that, I value the elite upgrades on short- and mid-haul flights
much more than the ability to sit on a nice couch and maybe get a free drink. So I 100% stand by my statement.
