Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I prefer a GSM phone as I have all my contacts in my phone and I just switch SIM cards when I travel abroad.

The T-Mobile says (for roaming in Canada)

" Rate per minute: $0.49 plus applicable long distance charges
GPRS coverage: Yes"

Does anyone know what these "applicable long distance charges" would be?
