Originally, my wife & I were planning on doing the RTW trip on ST. Now, based on everything I've read here, it's starting to look like that's not the best idea. Any thoughts on how to go about trying to determine the best RTW trip? I couldn't imagine doing this trip in coach therefore I'm willing to spend the miles for a first class ticket... I had thought that business class would work but is it true that we'd be in coach when there isn't business class on a particular flight. As you can tell... I'm so new to this that I desparately need some guidance. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've done a bunch of RTWs on Skyteam, but never as an award ticket.

First thing is to decide when and where you would like to go, and for how long in each place. After that, it is just connecting the dots in a somewhat orderly progression.

WRT business class tickets and economy seating, that only applies to domestic USA flights where there is an extra $100 per leg surcharge to upgrade to domestic F. You will generally get business/first class on inter-european and inter-asian flights.

Make your proposed itinerary and post it, from there there are several FTers that can tell you your possible routing options. There is also an interactive route map on the Skyteam website that might prove useful to you.

Cheers
