Ok, here's my view. I agree that if if the alleged incident happened, then it is bad.

But the whole media reporting is a storm in a teacup. I don't believe this sort of behaviour is 'common practice' at Qantas, nor is it acceptable under their staff rules. Qantas would have staff training on ethics, discrimination etc and the staff firmly told what is acceptable and what is not.

The alleged incident will be investigated and the staffer demoted /booted /counselled if found to have behaved badly. I don't believe that 2 weeks is an unreasonable timeframe to perform feedback/service recovery to the passenger - an investigation like that could take up to a month to complete.

Now if there was an established pattern of this from several FA's, then there could be a bigger 'culture' issue at play and Qantas would need to look at things more closely.
