bokich - u have to actually originate travel in BKK to get the cheapo fares. otherwise they use the highest fare segment to price your tix.

as for throwing away the originating sectors - it can be done and does happen a lot ex Asia. esp b/c u dont have to always confirm the first outbound sector and then you just dont tell them you havent used it.

in fact from india united used to secretly condone this practice b/c they knew they could resell the seat for which you didnt show up for and still collect the same fare from you. of course united no longer flies from india so maybe this practice wasnt so good after all
