I was booked MAD-LHR-SFO on BA.
When I reached the gate in MAD after checking in, I saw that my flight was delayed 1.5hrs. So I found a quiet spot and caught up with some work. An hour later I got myself together and went back to the gate, only to find that the MAD-LHR had left on time.

Didn't even page me!


(MAD is a modern, good looking airport, but they have no idea how to run the place - Southern European priorities.)
So I missed my connection to SFO.
Ended up not too bad, as I re-booked onto Lufthansa MAD-FRA-SFO same day, and picked up some UA miles I wouldn't have had otherwise!
(But yes, I lost the fare paid for the BA segments.)
