Thank you very much for all the replies - we aren't scheduled to fly out of LAX until Monday morning - from every indication, it looks like Hurricane Dean will directly impact Cancun on Monday night/Tuesday morning.

We just received a phone call from JW Marriott in Cancun advising us to cancel our reservation - they said they strongly recommended it and asked us if would we like to - we said yes, we probably should - they gave us a cancellation number - and that was it.

I am very impressed that they would call us this far in advance (Saturday morning) and not make us wait to see what happens tomorrow or the next day. We had no intention of trying to fly down there and ride it out but were waiting to look at some tracking information closer to our outbound flight because we would lose our deposit if we canceled and then the hurricane missed. This was the nicest possible way they could have treated us.

Now if Delta would just step up. From everything I can tell and from the Mexican government updates, CUN will close on Monday and right now they have told tourists who are already in Cancun to book flights out no later than Monday morning.

Thank you again for your posts - just wanted to mention this excellent customer service from JW Marriott - this sort of thing makes us want to choose this hotel in the future for sure.
