Update on UD luggage space on a 747-400

A few weeks ago, I was wondering if my luggage would fit in the overhead bins on the upper-deck of a 747-400.

With your help, I realized very quickly that the overhead bins would be way too small for my bag... and you were right!

Most of you also mentioned that there is a closet on the right hand side at the top of the stairs, and that most FAs allowed passengers to store their luggage there.

Just to let you know that they indeed allowed me to store my luggage in the closet...

BUT, what surprised me is when the FA said: "put your bag as far as possible". So when I entered the closet, I realized that it was very deep; actually, I had to crawl a good 6-8 feet to put my bag in the far corner of the closet. There was enough room there for all UD passengers and FAs... and perhaps for about 20 more passengers from the lower deck!

Was everybody else aware of the size of this closet? I am asking because some folks mentioned that the FAs would not allow them to put their bags in this closet... I guess I am surprised by this since there is so much room...

...or perhaps I found a "secret" compartment on the UD...
