Aeroplan sends out these targeted offers to some of its frequent fliers. ie: SE's.

I receive offers like these to hotel chains I don't stay at. I took advantage of the hilton offer last year. Got the gold status, had to do 3 stays to qualify and get the free points offered. Then I had enough points for a couple of nights at low end Hilton hotel in NYC, which I gave to a family member since I don't do value chains
