Redemption cancellation within 24 hours prior departure?
I have just cancelled a Club redemption booking when check-in had already opened (so within 24 hours of departure). I called the Executive Club knowing that the fare rules specifically allow cancellations up to 24 hours, fully prepared to haggle and try to be as convincing and charming as possible. But the agent did not even mention that check-in had already opened, no questions, no haggling, no charm offensive. Miles will be redeposited and taxes etc. refunded. No problem.
Has this ever happened to anybody else? The only reason I can think BA did not put up a fuss is maybe because of the possibility of being able to sell the Club seat for an obscene amount, or possibly that the flight was oversold and thus freeing up a seat served a purpose...
Anybody? In any event, good outcome! ^
