I am trying to get an upgrade (econ to bus) for a trip to London in May. I haven't booked the ticket yet but have been calling UA to find available upgrade seats. For the dates I am trying they don't have any upgrades from any of the gateways.

Any tips on whether they will clear closer to the date?
