Seeking help in finding decent fare for 'last minute' emergency travel. SEA->IND

I'm trying to help out two of my good friends in a time of need to get them a relatively decent priced last minute airfare.

My friend's dad is pretty sick and the prognosis isn't looking too good. He and his wife are needing to travel between SEA to IND so that they can spend some time with his dad.

From searching the forums here, I have been able to see that the bereavement fares (if that becomes necessary) aren't really that great of a deal. It seems to best be used in the case where some flexibility with cancellation is required, but simply for cost it's not the best option.

I was hoping that the great minds of FT may propose some ideas on how to save some money on this last minute flight.

Their current hope is to leave SEA on Wed 8/22 and return from IND on 8/26.

I have looked at Last Minute Getaways on Travelocity, however those rates are higher than airfare alone.

The current best fare I could find them is separate one-way flights

Southwest SEA->IND 8/22 - $225 (inc tax)
Airtran IND->SEA 8/26 - $233 (inc tax)

Total: $458 RT

Does anyone have any other advice they are wiling to offer? Are there any airlines out there that actually have a decent bereavement fare policy?

Thanks from both me and my friends.
